Forrest A. Kessler Walk for Humanity 2008 – National Charity Fundraiser

After the Welcome Reception, the Forrest A. Kessler Walk for Humanity 2008 provides you the opportunity to join your ASWA and AWSCPA friends from across the country for a National Charity Fundraiser sponsored by the American Society of Women Accountants, the American Woman’s Society of CPAs and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This is an event to remember all Humanitarians we have loved and lost.  It is also an event to recognize and support those who are struggling with treatments and healing.

The Eighth Annual Walk will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  The tax-deductible registration fee is $50. The experience includes participation in an exciting event in Dallas, a signature T-shirt and a raffle ticket for special prizes. All of the proceeds from this event will go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This Society is the leader in the fight against the number one disease killer of children.  Adult women and men are also victims of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma - cancers of bone marrow and blood.  Go to the ASWA Web site (www.aswa.org) or the AWSCPA Web site (www.awscpa.org) to download a registration form today!

Awards Lunch

Join ASWA and AWSCPA for a joint awards lunch that will celebrate the winners of ASWA Educational Foundation’s Balance Awards and AWSCPA’s National Awards.  The seventh annual ASWA Balance Awards program will recognize the individuals – and companies – who have shown a commitment to work/life balance and sensitivity to the concerns of women in the industry.  The AWSCPA recognizes the individual achievements of its members and non-members with the following awards: the Woman CPA of the Year Award, Educator of the Year Award, Public Service Award, and the Woman of Courage Award.

An Evening Remembering JFK – His Life and Legacy

Take advantage of this year’s conference location of Dallas, Texas and join your friends and peers for an evening that promises to stimulate dialogue, foster understanding, and increase knowledge of the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

On November 22, 1963, the Texas School Book Depository building was the focus of world, shock, grief, and outrage when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dealey Plaza.  Twenty-six years later, John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation opened on the building’s sixth floor, where significant evidence was found.  Using nearly 400 photographs, 45 minutes of documentary films, and artifacts, this exhibition recreates the social and political context of the early 1960s, chronicles the assassination and its aftermath, and recognizes Kennedy’s lasting impact on American culture.

So plan now to join us on October 30, 2008 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. for a tour of the museum and a catered dinner in a view overlooking downtown Dallas.  The registration fee for this event is $65. Transportation to and from the museum are included as part of your package.

Joint Foundation-Sponsored Financial Literacy & Fundraising Lunch

Join your friends and colleagues at the joint foundation fundraising lunch where we will learn about how we can bring financial literacy to our communities, network and make our final bids on silent auction items.  The ASWA Educational Foundation and the AWSCPA Foundation will be hosting this event to raise important funds to support their missions.  The two-hour event will feature a 50-minute CPE session on financial literacy, items donated by affiliates, chapters, firms and individuals across the country.  Don’t miss the opportunity to learn, grow and win!

The ASWA Educational Foundation was created in 2004 to promote and advance financial literacy, scholarship and life skills through programs of recognition, mentoring, research and outreach for women in accounting and related fields.  The AWSCPA Foundation was created in 1982 to support the research and educational activities of the AWSCPA and provide scholarship opportunities for women in the accounting profession.
