Welcome to the website of the AWSCPA DC Metro Affiliate!
With 2010 in full swing, I would sincerely like to extend my best wishes and hope for a wonderful year for each of you. I also want to welcome all of our new members to this dynamic affiliate. We are dedicated to providing you with more than just a membership … through education, advocacy and dedicated professionals, we continually strive to provide the best for you.
AWSCPA is the voice of women in the accounting profession and each member holds a unique perspective, based upon their professional and personal experience. Perhaps the greatest benefit of AWSCPA membership is the opportunity to network, learn and grow from the experience, knowledge and wisdom of our members throughout the association.
This is the inaugural year for the DC Metro Affiliate. We are dedicated to growing the chapter and are in the process of building our programs to offer networking events, community service opportunities and camaraderie. Please join one of our committees and be a part of building our organization. In September 2010, AWSCPA members will have the opportunity to participate in the seventh annual joint national conference with the American Society of Women Accountants in Nashville, Tennessee. The planned educational opportunities coupled with the business meetings and social events, promise to engage all in attendance. I hope you'll join us this year in Nashville!
In closing, I would like to extend an emphatic thank you to our DC Metro Affiliate Board of Directors for their dedication and hard work since the chapter’s founding in December.

Since its creation over seven decades ago, the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants has been the voice of women in the accounting profession.
AWSCPA is the only organization devoted exclusively to the support and professional development of women CPAs. The Society is also a leader in addressing these concerns:

- The glass ceiling
- Work and family issues
