NATIONAL COMMITTEES
The American Woman's Society of CPAs has five standing committees established to respond to current issues affecting the accounting profession. The committees prepare AWSCPA position papers in response to proposed authoritative pronouncements including exposure drafts, discussion memorandums and other documents. Those standing committees and their functions are described below. Each committee reports directly to the Immediate Past President of AWSCPA.

Accounting Standards Committee
The Accounting Standards Committee of the AWSCPA is responsible for responding to exposure drafts released by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), current topics being discussed by its Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), exposure drafts of Statements of Position (SOP) of the Accounting Standards Executive Committee (AcSEC) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and other related entities.

Public Company Accounting & Auditing Committee
The Public Company Accounting & Auditing Committee of the AWSCPA is responsible for responding to exposure drafts released by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Governmental Accounting Standards Committee
The Governmental Accounting Standards Committee of the AWSCPA is responsible for responding to exposure drafts of proposed Statements, Interpretations and Technical Bulletins by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Auditing Standards Committee
The Auditing Standards Committee of the AWSCPA is responsible for responding to exposure drafts of proposed Statements on Auditing Standards, Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements, and Statements on Quality Control Standards released by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the AICPA.

Tax Matters Committee
The Tax Matters Committee of the AWSCPA is responsible for responding to current tax issues being discussed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or by Congress.
